What age can puppies start training?+
Puppies can start basic socialization and foundation work as early as 8 weeks. The sooner you start, the better — the critical socialization window closes around 16 weeks. Early training prevents the problems we spend years fixing in adult dogs.
How long is board & train?+
Most board & train programs run 4 weeks. That window is what allows your dog to truly imprint and internalize the new habits — not just learn the cues, but live by them. Complex cases — severe aggression, deep reactivity, or dogs with significant behavioural history — may require longer. We assess your dog first and give you an honest timeline before you commit.
Do you use e-collars?+
Only when truly necessary. Our default is traditional, relationship-based training — we've consistently found it builds clearer communication, stronger engagement, and a more reliable dog long-term. The e-collar isn't a shortcut, and it's not how we get our results. When it does come up — usually for off-leash reliability at distance or specific working-dog applications — we use it as a low-level communication tool, never as punishment, and we explain exactly what we're doing and why.
What's the difference between private lessons and board & train?+
Private lessons work best for owners who can commit to consistent practice and want to be involved in the training process. Board & train removes the consistency variable — your dog trains multiple times a day in a controlled environment, then comes home transformed. We always include owner education in both programs.
Do you work with aggressive dogs?+
Yes. Aggression and reactivity are some of our most common cases. We've worked through dog-on-dog aggression, human-directed aggression, resource guarding, fear aggression, and everything in between. If your dog has a bite history, let us know on the consultation call.
How much does dog training cost?+
Private lessons start at $300/session or $1,000 for a 4-pack (save $200). Group sessions are $90 drop-in or $280 for a 4-pack. Board & train starts at $4,500/month. Boarding is $59/night. Personal protection dogs are quoted individually. Book a free consultation for an accurate assessment.
Do you offer payment plans?+
Contact us to discuss payment options. We want to make training accessible — reach out and we'll work something out.
What breeds do you work with?+
All breeds. From Chihuahuas and toy breeds to Belgian Malinois and Rottweilers — we train every size and temperament. High-drive working dogs are a specialty, but no dog is too small or too large.
What areas do you serve?+
We're based in Schomberg, ON and work with clients across Toronto, North York, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Barrie, Bradford, Caledon, and the entire GTA. Board & train clients come from across Ontario.
How do I book?+
Call us at (647) 967-7297 (PAWS) or fill out the contact form on our website. Every client starts with a free 15-minute phone consultation where we learn about your dog and recommend the right program.
Can I visit during board & train?+
We typically recommend against visits during the first week — it can disrupt the settling-in process and set training back. We send regular photo and video updates throughout the program. You're always welcome to discuss your dog's progress by phone.
Do you offer a guarantee?+
We stand behind our work. If you follow our handover instructions and something isn't working, call us — we'll address it. Training isn't magic, and it requires owner follow-through. But we won't leave you hanging.
